Shubho Bibaho · betel-leaves opening

Shubho Bibaho

Two betel leaves part for the first auspicious glance.

A Bengali invitation in sindoor red and shola white. Two glossy, heart-shaped betel leaves, pinned with a sholapith flower, cover the couple's names the way a bride covers her face before shubho drishti. One tap and they turn aside to show the names inside a hand-drawn alpana of lotus, conch, paired fish and paddy, while a diya glows. Below the cover, the pages are white with a red border like a laal-paar sari. Guests can blow the shankha, and each celebration from Gaye Holud to Boubhat has its own card.
