Arabian Pearl

A pearl-strung mashrabiya folds open onto a moonlit seaside courtyard.

A carved cedar mashrabiya stands between the guest and a moonlit courtyard by the sea. A brass clasp set with mother-of-pearl and the couple's initials turns a quarter turn, the pearl string looped across the screen snaps, and loose pearls bounce across the marble sill as the lattice folds back like an accordion. Moonlight floods in and the guest steps through into the invitation. Nacre panels, brass star crests and a live countdown follow, all in midnight blue, pearl and brass, and the design reads just as gracefully in Arabic as in English.
