Santorini · cobalt-shutters-caldera opening

Santorini

Unhook the cobalt shutters and the caldera pours in at golden hour.

A whitewashed courtyard wall, an arched cave-house window and a pair of cobalt plank shutters held by a brass hook, with bougainvillea spilling over the plaster. Guests lift the hook, the shutters swing in and golden-hour light floods the courtyard as the camera steps through onto the caldera: blue domes, a bell tower, the white village on the cliff and the sun sinking into the Aegean. Inside: whitewashed steps that count down to the day, a multi-day itinerary set in arched niches, a sunset guests drag into the sea (the whole village applauds), and a farewell over the caldera at night.
